Updates to Personalized Rows in Discover

We’ve started rolling out some updates to the models behind personalized rows in Discover – including new metrics focused on social play. These changes are live for about 10% of players today and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks.

Successful party invites and joins (as a percentage of unique players), along with the percentage of time spent in a party, are now part of the signals used to determine For You row recommendations. This rewards developers who generate social interactions and encourage players to invite their friends. We’re also testing new Discover rows that highlight social islands.

We’ve also updated the New and For You row, which will influence how Discover prioritizes and tests new content, to boost visibility for innovative islands that bring something new to the ecosystem and those that quickly immerse players.

Our viral detection and social graph systems have also been improved to better recognize when an island is gaining momentum.

Recently, we’ve made changes to limit similar islands from appearing in the New and Updated and New Experiences rows. Improved duplicate detection will also be introduced in the coming months to further improve the variety of islands displayed in these rows.

For more information on these changes, plus new details on how Discover works, check out the updated Discover documentation. https://dev.epicgames.com/documentation/fortnite/how-discover-works-in-fortnite

this is welcome news, thank you.
