Update Causes TheIsland To be cooked.

When the dev kit was updated, my TC mod cook time and size went through the roof.

Looks like the map TheIsland is being cooked now when it was not before.

I know I’ve not edited assets that would cause the map to differ from base.

To be sure I decided I’d verify the dev kit and start from scratch (forcing all base content to download). Except the map was STILL being cooked, with base content!

So I decided I’d go through and delete all content files it said differed from base and verify again (to re-download).

Still, map files and others are being cooked which I’ve not touched before.

Short of reinstalling the entire dev kit, what can I do? What am I doing wrong?

EDIT:
I uninstalled then downloaded the 58gb dev kit again and a fresh TC still cooks and packages TheIsland (among the other assets mentioned)!

EDIT:
Latest fix still has the map files differing from the base.

Yep, reproduced this issue. Looking into it, should be fixed later today. Thanks for the report!

Tyvm, appreciated!

Unfortunately, the map is still being cooked.
However, the other files are no longer differing from base.

  • projects/ShooterGame/Content/OLDASSETS/
  • projects/ShooterGame/Content/GUNIMPACTS/
  • projects/ShooterGame/Content/EFFECTS/TEXTURES/
  • etc are no longer being cooked.

Here were my steps:

  1. Verify dev kit with launcher
  2. Update dev kit binaries from git
  3. Copy in the new files (ArkDevKitDiffContent_v231.9.zip - Google Drive, mentioned in 1/18/2021: ARK Dev Kit v321.1 is now available on the Epic Launcher - ARK: Survival Evolved - Unreal Engine Forums
  4. Run TC cook
