Unworkable performance using child actors within blueprints


Using several child actors within blueprints results in horrible performance within the editor. It is unworkable.

Besides the performance of child actors: Cannot set focus to child actor component in viewport, and variables cannot be changed of child actors. And in 4.8 the whole editor crashes when opening a blueprint containing several child actors

You chose 4.7 as the Product Version but your other issues are in 4.8. Is 4.7 the correct version to test this in?

I tested a blueprint that uses several child actors in 4.7 & 4.8 but I couldn’t get your results. Could you try testing this in a new project and seeing if you still get the same results? If you do, please provide a throughout as possible repro steps or a test project.
