Untitled Game

Peace!

This is a project i’ve been touching for a while, although no major progress has been done gameplay wise, and there is still a lot to produce and design.

The idea is that of a puzzle/adventure game with narrative, probably about discovering the past of a destroyed civilization and getting something good out of the experience perhaps even in real life!

Still a lot to do, but i share what i have so far going in.

As some may realize, i re used some assets from my last major project, since i don’t have too much time (or focus) and so i can have a visual start, but most likely they will either be edited to suit this project better, or replaced with other assets, so far they do contrast a ton with the assets i did make for this, which are the two who have the clean white dome, but probably the end result will be a mix of the level of detail of all of the assets

(It would be amazing to have a concept artist help, tho this project may probably be released free, since i have my motivations on it being part of spreading a good message i believe in…)

This last one is actually from another project, from Unity, but this is a possible vibe i might go for.

Peace

Hi there @Jibreel ! Welcome back to posting with us here on the forums.

I love the idea of a puzzle game with rewards. It makes puzzles feel less frustrating for sure. I think the idea of steadily rediscovering a lost civilization is a great premise as well. Do you think that you’ll be going for an underground set up going forward or will it be a mix of above and under depending?

Wow, the fact that you asked, i actually was going for a mix.
Although i now some concers with the vibe of the game, i remember how much i loved Skyrim underground dwemer cities, if you were to know the reference.

So i’m a fan of underground cities and stuff, although idk if i’m so good at making them…

We will see where this goes, i probably should get some deadlines and lock in, since i’m usually distracted and i need to learn to work in a constant way.

Thanks for the commentary in all cases.

Peace

Hello @Jibreel !

I think a mix would be very interesting. I remember very much enjoying the underground cities you’re talking about. I also remember some good structure from games such as Dragon’s Dogma and the new Tomb Raiders that had a similar mix.

I think your idea to get some deadlines and steadily work towards those would be a good idea. Don’t be afraid to change something if you don’t like it because this is your project and dream. I can’t wait to see your next steps for making this game. Remember to take care of yourself and don’t push yourself too hard. :star_struck:

Thanks for the encouragment.

To be totally frank, i was now gonna take it in a 2D direction, i’m kinda split since i come from that background, then got more used to 3D, and now i find myself in the middle.

For the looks, i prefer 3D usually, especially for clean stuff.

But 2D, has usually been actually way faster, to the point when i did some 2D projects, even if unfinished i could believe i would have finished them…

Here is a small showcase of what i was considering in 2D (very quick stuff tho)

This one, actually is more shaded and the second one i made, if i was to go this route, i know, it would not look like the 3Ds you have seen, it would have a different character.

The one below is underdeveloped btw, it’s not shaded, my usual style when drawing is to shade a lot…

If i was to go this way, idk if you played professor layton games, but that gloomy vibe of the mechanistm chambers in the first and second game kind of vibe, is something i always liked to explore.

In any case, even if i end up going for a 3D look, i may recover concepts from these 2D tests…

Another idea was to mix this hand drawn with the 3D, but for now i never tried it out…
(Extra, another good of the 2D, is that one can produce cells faster, so i can achieve that feel games like hollow knight has, which i also enjoyed a lot…)

Peace

Hello again @Jibreel !

I believe I’m seeing the vision you want to work for here. A 2d environment with 3d aspects, yes? I think some games such as Paper Mario and Inside are what first jump to my mind when I think about that mix. However, Hollow Knight is a very good feel to reach for as that style of 2d combat platformer brought some unique challenges!

I would also love to add I adore your sketching style as it already seems like it could be ported for a unique game of its own. Please keep up the cool work and make sure to take care of yourself throughout this project!

Hi there @Jibreel,

Hope you’re well

The tower and town is gorgeous so far. Looks like a beautiful setting for a game to take place. I’m honestly stoked to see more of this. Especially the meaningful message you plan to include

Happy developing until next time!
