Unreal Update to 5.2 - project still launches as 5.1.1

I Updated a project to 5.2 but whenever I launch it from my file explorer it loads as a 5.1.1 project, then a load of things are broken because it is a 5.2 project. However, if I open the same project from the epic games launcher then it all loads up fine and as a 5.2 project. It seems my installation is broken, any ideas of how to fix this?

If you open the project file with notepad, its only a few lines long. It will say 5.1 in there, just change it to 5.2.

BE SURE it really is a 5.2 project first…

Thanks alot for the response

My Uproject file says engine association: 5.2 already, so this doesn’t seem to be the fix for this issue.

Then I’m not sure, sorry.

I guess you could just remove 5.1

That’s okay
It’s been stopping me from installing plug ins to new projects too. For example I tried to install the Mosys plug in and it seemed to be creating 5.1 projects while still naming them as 5.2 when in the UE launcher - here’s the logs, hope this can uncover the issue…
MosysTest4_2.log (27.3 KB)

Do the plugins from the launcher, for the engine. Then in the project, for the project.

How do I know which are for engine and which are for the project?

You can’t add them to the project without adding them to the engine first.

Looks like when re-downloading and going through the process again it worked, not sure if it was an update on Mosys end, or becuase of my antivirus quarantining files even though I told it to restore, but I maanaged to get that plug in going.

The issue still stands with my .uproject files not opening in the correct version of UE when launched from explorer though…

Thanks for your help so far

So I just downloaded a new project, when I open it in notepad it says "engine association 5.2 "
But when I click open it says (plug in) was designed for 5.2.0 attempt to load it anyway?

It must be something to do with the way UE is launching this project from explorer.

It sounds like somehow you’ve set the file association for windows to a fixed version of the engine.

Like I say, just remove 5.1

I ran this on another computer where I don’t have 5.1 installed and opened a new 5.2 project, I got the same ‘rebuild for 5.2’ message on opening! This was with a fresh install of launcher, and 5.2 on this machine.
