Is there someone that has updated Unreal Tournament to be usable with the latest Unreal Engine versions?
It should work there are steings projet most likely to make things run stuff from un4 in un5
since a un5 is super cool is the UN4 did not understand the super cool there is definitely some setting that cause crashes or some missing plug
I doubt that, but maybe (hopefully) You can recompile project for UE5 without any major troubles. By major troubles i mean large portion of code incompatible with new engine. Not some minor errors. So you need to be quite good in C++ and unreal code.
you can move everything to lyra un5 demo move only weapons avatar maps and set movement and camera in unreal turnament style it will also be lighter and smoother as you leave all those old codes behind
I don’t think it takes that long to put stuff on lyra which is like a Christmas tree fresh cut ready to be decorated
But will it be unreal tournament?
Also do it in “two weeks ™”
if you use the same speed of jumping and movement with the same weapons and the same camera settings the differences will only be visible for the generational upgrade of graphics but to play the sensation will be the same it’s all a matter of timing to make unreal turnament just use the same settings on lyra and move the assets ugrade the matirilas to UN5 levle quality and you have AAA game xD
there is a guy on steam who put lyra free to play without any changes after less a month of lyra being released LOOOL ginius!!
lyra is a manifest thing a masterpiece of FPS templates 100% multiplayer redy high-level lights and shadows
the only problem is making a UI of unreal tournament un5 version on top off lyra is just time expenisve
new weapons mesh would be needed as we are in 2022 some super figs pro should sit in blender and modernize it
I think we need a platform on Unreal Engine for community projects unreal tournament could be resurrected for free on epic game by fans in a couple of months maximum
Guys!!! following the line of logic unreal tournament created unreal engine therefore unreal tournament should be a showcase that shows the potential of an unreal engine such a thing benefits everyone…the community works together on a AAA Showcase project everyone is happy unreal engine sells more epik sells more WIN WIN WIN
best solution is make this game in 2 3 mounts without thinking too much about it
to motivate a comunity just gift unique dev only skins for weapons and characters to those who cooperate in the resurrection of the dead body off unreal turnamet there will be a waiting line from here to Mars to have unique tradable dev skin…
with a compartmentalization of the project you can divide all in small slices and assemble without too many problems with a team reduced to 2 serious persons assembler you pay with a 200,000 kickstarter for thos 2 super serious guys
communitys and fans would be more than happy to do all the assets for free
im personally a big Unreal Turnament fan i grow wit a unreal 1 in 1999!!! and UO
Get to work code it, make levels, import textures, balance weapons, and all that.
If its so easy, just do it, then share project.
UT3 is underestimated to death, it’s more than an “in game” demo of the late Unreal Engine 3, the titan mode is the most annoying thing I know, outside of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim or Diablo 3
Honestly, it would be an lot faster to just build your own version from scratch than just waiting for another remake
Like migrating assets?
Not entirely sure if that’s an good idea, in the legal sense. As it is, Unreal Tournament is an cancelled project and I’m not entirely sure if the rights or any of it’s assets are free to use. Plus, migrating stuff across an different iteration of Unreal Engine isn’t exactly an seamless process
