We are a University that use Unreal as part of the classes that are run. We run a managed environment using Microsoft Intune and have recently found that upgrading from 5.2.1 to 5.3.2 deletes the Project folder that students are working on.
We currently have about 4 cases of this, we are confused as to why this is happening as a BOYD environment does not delete the projects folder.
The folder is sitting at C:/Users/[User]/Documents/
This means that students are losing their work that they have worked hard on, is there any reason for this to happen?
I downloaded this update found half my projects stopped working and have missing files, was a bad update they need to fix this and move to version 5.3.3 quickly.
You need to backup you’re project files and revert back to version 5.3.1.
I usually back files up on a separate external HD then just port in the file when needed back to the projects folder wherever you have that located, mine for example is on H drive but Epic marketplace still caches downloaded asset files to C drive so i usually just delete cache files after install so it doesn’t take up space on my main drive when i have finished installing them into projects on H drive.
