Unreal launcher doesn't show me any new update for 4.8, I can only see it if i'm adding a new ver.

I believe that is how it works.
You could uninstall the previous version, install the new version and then switch your project’s engine version. But it doesn’t really make a difference.

I guess it is from 4.7 to 4.8 because all the 4.7x worked with simple update.

This is because they are completely different versions. The 4.7.X is a hotfix (so hotfix 4.7.1, 4.7.2, etc.) as opposed to a new engine version, they are designed to fix specific errors within that engine version that are causing lots of crashes or otherwise blocking progress. So 4.7.1 is still 4.7, it is simply an updated version. 4.8, however, will be treated as a separate copy of the engine because it has different fixes, updates, features, etc. This is one of the reasons we highly recommend finding a version that works for your project and sticking with it, only updating when a fix or feature that you need comes in or if you need an engine version that is more stable than the one you are using.
