Hello, I happen to be using an hp elite book 840 with 4gig ram and intel core i5, which version of unreal engine can I use without any lag or issue on the laptop

Unfortunately, if these specs are accurate, there isn’t a version that you would be able to use without any issue unless you go back to UE3. That laptop doesn’t meet minimum recommended specs in the RAM department. I might be able to suggest specific hardware upgrades if I knew which generation 840 you have, but really first and foremost that ram isn’t going to push much. All that said, 4.27 would actually perform better than 4.0 because of bugfixes and such. You SHOULD be able to use it, it’s just not going to push very hard, and you will experience slowdowns, especially when building shaders. But 4.27.2 looks like your best bet
