Description:
[COLOR=#2d2d2d]The **Unreal Engine Technical Artist **supports on set Virtual Production to create immersive real-time experiences for content production. [/COLOR][COLOR=#2d2d2d]The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of the content creation pipeline in Unreal Engine, VFX pipelines and Virtual Production using LED.[/COLOR]
[COLOR=#2d2d2d]This role is based remotely and on-set as necessary for studio days (either London/South East, UK or Los Angeles, US)[/COLOR]
[COLOR=#2d2d2d]Key tasks and responsibilities:[/COLOR]
- Lead operator of Unreal Engine during on-set Virtual Production of content for a range of clients in Advertising, Television and Film
- Work with the VFX supervisor and alongside the Virtual Art Department to create and optimise high quality real-time models and environments in Unreal Engine optimised for use in Virtual Production with LED and nDisplay
- Enhancing model performance and collaborating with artists on modelling and texturing best practice
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues arising with the Unreal projects and nDisplay
- Applying lighting techniques in Unreal Engine and communicating with Virtual Art Department artists in lighting best practices and guidelines to ensure environments are real-time ready
- Collaborate with programmers to develop and test new features
- Write and maintain workflows, processes and tools documentation
- Support the VFX Supervisor and wider production team in virtual scouting and technical recces
- Assist with support of the whole virtual production environment, including LED walls, video processors and camera tracking systems
Talent Required:
[COLOR=#2d2d2d]Experience - Required[/COLOR]
- Extensive experience with lighting and use of post-processing volume in Unreal Engine, including real-time raytracing
- Proven games industry experience, ideally familiar with AAA
- Exceptional 3D art skills
- Understanding of Physically Based Rendering
- Creative software knowledge to include a range of applications, including Photoshop, Zbrush, Substance Painter, Maya and Houdini
- Technical skill with virtual cameras, lighting and raytracing optimisation for high performance of real time rendering of projects for use in virtual production
- Good knowledge of C# and C++
- Knowledge of model optimisation tools and techniques

- Experience setting up and operating Unreal nDisplay and multi-user editing
- Experience of working with camera tracking and lens calibration
- Film or video production / on set experience
