Unreal Engine Slow Startup Issue Since Version 5.3 and 5.4.2

Hi everyone,

I’ve been experiencing a frustrating issue with Unreal Engine since version 5.3, and it continues in version 5.4.2. When I start the engine, it gets stuck at “Initializing… 0%” for about 5 to 10 minutes before finally opening. During this time, no noticeable activity occurs, and the system resource usage for Unreal remains low. Has anyone encountered a similar problem or found a solution to this?

yup experienceing the same issue…still looking for a solution. My log is showing the pause happens when loading the openXR runintime i seems:

then eventually after 5 or so minutes it moves on and starts as usual

UPDATE: after disabling openXR in the project, it launches normally. very odd.

probably it tries to connect to some online server and fails. but keeps the launch process paused because why not? if one needs to contact their server overloads u no need to work bro
