Unreal Engine not starting...no error message

The launcher opens, I click “Launch” (Unreal Engine 4.8.0), then select my project, it looks like it’s about to start, but then nothing, the launcher is still open, what’s the issue?

There’s an update icon where it says 4.8.0, so I’m going to try updating it but it’s a 2.5 GB update, hopefully that resolves it. Has anyone else had this happen?

What are your PC specs, if you do not have enough RAM for it to open, then it might be crashing before it opens.

I have 8 GB but it’s not the ram, I was able to open some of the other sample projects.

Also, before this started happening I had a blue screen crash. Those happen on my computer every now and then and I haven’t been able to pin point the reason.

Could that have corrupted a file somewhere? It’s just frustrating that there’s no error message.

I’ll update this thread if I figure it out.

What OS are you using? What does the BSoD say? In my experience, bluescreens should not happen on modern systems on a regular basis. Turn off automatic reboot and write down the actual error message, then check what it could mean. Could be that your PC has some severe issues or maybe even faulty hardware.
What else is running on your PC?

Also the entire specifications may help to figure out whats wrong.

Have you tried open the project through the project file?

It literally loads up to about 96% and then stops.

I can still right click and choose “Launch Game”, that doesn’t take me to the editor but it runs the project.

I tried running as administrator.

Try to delete the “intermediate” folder in your project directory.

made some progress, I followed the advice here, Crashing - Crash on Editor Loading - Fatal error - Platform & Builds - Epic Developer Community Forums,

I deleted the config, intermediate, and saved file and the editor starts up but I don’t have the touch control interface that you normally get by default when you create a project for mobile. I went into world settings and tried to edit the game mode and the editor crashed while it was going through a process “Rebuilding Class Hierarchy”

Okay I realized I had to go into project settings -> input -> Bindings and re-enter the axis mappings
