Unreal Engine Just Wont Work

Hi everyone, so I’ve been having this issue for a bit over a month now and nothing seems to help me fix it. So I downloaded Unreal Engine a bit over a month ago and the installation and all that went fine. So when I load up UE I begin making a terrain, when I get to texturing it (or if I manage to texture it) UE cracks it and crashes or sometimes it completely freezes my computer. I have an Alienware M17 Laptop so its pretty powerful. I just don’t understand why I’m having all these issues with it.

I hope someone can help me with this. It is highly frustrating as you could imagine.

Thank You

Sounds like it could be your material. Can you show that?

Yes. Your landscape material.

Like the blueprint that make up the material?

Hi sorry about the late reply but I put the picture up at the top of the page. I used layer blend nodes for each of the textures with a landscape coords node for tiling.

Ok, that looks fairly innocuous, probably isn’t that.

What do you get in the log file when it crashes?

Try the first point first if it doesn’t help then the rest.

  1. Disable Live Preview and Stats on top of material tab.

  2. Update video card drivers if it dont help try full reinstal video card drivers.

  3. Download some free GPU monitoring (MSI afterburner) and look to VRAM usage when you open material

And did you use version from GIThub or from EPIC game launcher? If from github try use from EPIC

i get this:

Next tips for laptop -

  1. disabled Intel integrated graphics card, so only GPU is running.

  2. in the power saving settings use maximum performance and use connected charging

  3. disable DirectX 12.

  4. uninstalled Geforce Experience.

  5. make clean reinstal GPU drivers.

Ok, I updated my drivers and that seemed to help. Thank you everyone I greatly appreciated the help.

I’d say, update your graphics card drivers. Can you tell me what card it is, how old?
