THE PROBLEM:
Engine freezes whenever I try to do any action in the editor, move a mesh, make a folder, open or close content folder, often for whole minutes and sometimes indefinitely. It is basically completely unusable. Im new and started this course on blueprints.
I have tried clean reinstalling windows.
I DELETED all previous projects and course assets and tested with a new BLANK project messing around with a new basic level.
Then tried older version 5.5. even 5.4.
Tried clean reinstalling drivers, both game ready and studio.
I have tried rolling back drivers to the 572.83 studio version clean reinstalled.
I have tried uninstalling epic games launcher and the editor with revo uninstaller and deleting every file related to them. Then installing the latest engine version again, didn’t work.
(I couldn’t do the method someone provided in another post down below)
-
First, uninstall the engine, launcher, asset packs, etc
-
Next, open the registry directory HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Epic Games\Unreal Engine\Builds, and delete any build entries
-
Finally, delete the folders %userprofile%\AppData\Local\UnrealEngine and %userprofile%\AppData\Local\UnrealHeaderTool
-
After that, no elements related to UE should be left in your system
-
Now, reinstall UE launcher from scratch, and only add the latest version of the engine
-
After the process is complete, test opening a blank project
(I couldn’t find the builds folder. Maybe I should follow up on this and try it again im not sure.)
I checked the log files and I had this error most of the times but very rarely not. even with the rolled back drivers.
LogD3D12RHI: Display: Batched command list execution is disabled for async queues due to known bugs in the current driver.
I am lost on what to do at this point could this be a hardware issue? I have been playing hollow knight silksong on my pc with no problem and it works great otherwise. Previously I played cyberpunk overdrive but that was when phantom liberty came out. I ran Aida when I first started to encounter this issue and there seemed to be no problem. Im thinking maybe try the 5.7 preview. Or try running it in a different OS than windows.
