Hello, I’m a 3D Artist that enjoys and creates Erotic/Pornographic Animations in Blender and have just recently come to Unreal Engine.
My decision to come to Unreal is because in Blender I have to render my animations, which can lead to me having to leave my Computer turned on for over a week constantly everyday to just be able to post a 5 min animation. But when I learned that Unreal 4 had it’s own video editor(Sequencer) and that it relied on the Engine’s Real Time Rendering, I was extremelly interested in it, as it would allow me to post my work way faster and save up on my poor Computer’s lifespan a bit more.
But now, to the reason why I’m here. I was curious on Epic Games Stance on Adult Content and this is what spawned confusion with me. I have read their EULA but as far as I’m aware, there is nothing stating that I cannot use it for Pornographic content, only on the Marketplace they do seem to impose Restrictions on it. Which is fine by me since I don’t plan on posting my content there.
However I also have another question regarding their fee. From what I gather, If my gross revenue is superior to 3000$ they will keep 5% of it, which is really fair. But does this only apply to sold game copies? Because I’m interested in using Patreon to potentially make some extra money for doing these animations, and if it were to ever occur to me to receive over 3000$ over at Patreon, does this mean I still have to pay the fee? Considering I’m not releasing a game, but only making short movies in their engine and giving it to my patrons. Does that still count?
In the end of all this, what I want to know is if they are completely Okay with their Engine being use to create Pornographic Content and if I still am required to pay their fee if I use Patreon as a means of receiving revenue.
