So, i downloaded UE5 today and deleted the older versions of the engine and left with 0 bytes of storage usage from UE. Then, i downloaded UE5. I assumed that it would just consume 32 gigabytes or something around that but it got over 100 gigabytes! I re-downloaded it, and still… it consumed 100 gigabytes. (There are no projects.)
Is it your vault? Did you download the city example project, for example?
Well no, i didn’t download anything else.
It is my vault.
Get hold of a copy of SpaceSniffer. It’s a utillity which can tell you where all you space has gone. It’s not the engine…

(this is the “experimental” folder)
Should i delete the linux packages?
For starters, turn off everything in the engine config you don’t need. It’s in the launcher
what about installing unreal on second disk? Do you have a second disk installed? 200Gb is really not that good for game dev.
Yeah, i do have a second disk. I just downloaded it to the smaller disk for testing purposes.
I closed all the options. You can check it in the first post.
As you can see, you have a LOT more plugins than me, for some reason…
All I can say is, remove the engine, then remove the plugins folder, then reinstall.
On my system the size in the epic games launcher is stated as 96Gb
I have two versions installed, UE4.27 has a folder size of 43Gb and UE5 has 55Gb. The math checks out.
Well this version of the engine is very buggy. I think the engine thinks that i chose all the options, but i didn’t. So, i just downloaded and removed an option from the installation menu for the Engine, and i got 80 gigabytes back. Thanks for the help guys, appreciate it.
Hi,I encountered the same situation, can you please tell me what you deleted in the folder
