Hey,
I`m trying to open an unreal engine 5.4.2 project. When I started UE and choose the project an click on open UE closes and I’m back in Epic Games. No Error Code is shown. The same happens if I try to open the project out of the project folder.
I really don’t have any more ideas to fix the problem. I already reinstalled Unreal.

Even if you don’t get any error messages, there might be some errors reported in the logs. So Unreal is crashing when you try to open or create a project, but starting the project launcher of the editor is working?
Unfortunately the Log File is completely empty. And yes, when I open a project that is working on every other computer I tried, unreal engine instantly chrashes. I can open the project launcher and even can create new projects. But I cant open existing projects…
I don’t know that projects that are ‘working on every other computer’ . Are these new projects, created by one of the templates, or do they use special plugins or contain C++ code ?
If possible, could you create a new project on another computer and try to open it with the one that has the issues? You could also try to verify your Unreal Installation
I am having the same issue on a MAC Studio. Nothing happens when attempting to launch Unreal or Twinmotion. scree closes until I reopen. Frustrating.
Just reiterating that the same is happening with me. I updated windows, reinstalled Unreal, went through almost all the recommendations I read and it still crashes (the entire machine not only Unreal). This is very frustrating.
Same happenning here… old projects, new projects, very unstable. All was working wonderfully then in the last few weeks (not gone into unreal for a while) it is now crashing almost every few minutes… sometimes it will run fine for a while until doing something neavy like MH identity then just closes… no crash reporter opening up, just gone !! (and yes using a very high end machine)
I have this issue with not only games but editor too. no mather what the program is when it uses unreal engine 5.4 i cannot launch it at all
same things were happening to me from 5.3 version i think and it turns out after days of searching/asking for answers, my pc is out of vram while trying to run UE. what graphic card you use?
