I also have a question. About Quixel bridge. I am using Unreal version 5.3.2 and quixel bridge is installed on my computer. I cannot see what I downloaded from the bridge I set up in the bridge in unreal. I have to use the one in unreal to see it. I don’t understand why they both work independently of each other. I also looked at the export setting. In the section that says Engine version, there is support up to version 4.27. I thought it was a problem because the plugin was not installed, but I couldn’t see it. I hope you can help me as soon as possible.
Hey there @TalhaUysalArt! Welcome to the community! So between UE4.27 and UE5 Quixel and Unreal merged and collaborated on the plugin to utilize hooks with metahumans in engine, and the decision was made due to the extra functionality provided by being a built in plugin and ease of use for users, the built in version would be the only supported version in engine going forward. This doesn’t mean you cannot use the external bridge software for other things or raw assets, it just means that when working in UE5 and pulling in native asset types, it’s recommended (though is required if you use metahumans) to use the built in bridge. They have different libraries due to being separate programs for all intents and purposes.
I think this is a problem because we will have to constantly download for each project. For example, for the one installed on the computer, we can download it beforehand and work quickly. Also, why is 4.27 the latest version in the engine version section? Why doesn’t it support versions 5 and above? It seems like this problem will be solved if it is supported.
I agree, feature parity between the two would be fantastic, though I can’t speak to the technical decisions that went on behind the scenes. Hopefully parity is a goal in the future!
Hi, I cannot download any metahuman through the unreal quixel plugin, it will ALWAYS hang at 99%, it works fine in the quixel standalone bridge, also, like stated, having to download again in a new project is lame, can this be fixed? (im also using the standalone for exporting into maya etc…
