Unreal Engine 5.0.2 is 123 gb! WHY?!

I unchecked absolutely everything and it appears to me when I start installing that unreal engine occupies 123gb

Are you sure it’s not just the Vault ( market stuff ).

Go through everything in the launcher and use the ‘remove local content’ option.

How are you checking the size?
it should be about 60GB with the default settings and much less with only the core component selected

Hmm I had the same problem with the UE 5.0.2 Installation via the Launcher. It seems the disk usage calculation is buggy. If you only pick the mandatory core components under Options, it displays as zero. But if you, say, pick the Engine Sources (smallest optional install) as well it seems to calculate a proper value and then the Installer starts. At the moment the installer still is running, but i will report back whether it works, after it finished.

It seems like fake size is reserved. This solution worked for me. The Engine 4.27 and 5.0.3 in my case reserved the maximum size when I install the engine with only the engine checked, for engine 5.0.3, it toke 113.7GB, click on the small arrow under the engine > choose “Options” > add any new feature, In my case I added “Starter contents”> click “Apply” > wait until finish installing

the size dropped from 113.7 GB to 31.2GB
