Hello,
Is Epic considering making an offline version of Unreal Engine 4 documentation ?
I wonder If I could make an offline version of the documentation and share it here on the forum. Is it possible? ( I would update the offline version from time to time, to match the online version.)
Not satisfied with the one in ENGINE INSTALL/VERSION/Documentation?
Sorry, I meant the Unreal Engine User Manual…
I remember reading another thread asking the same thing, no one objected so they ended up using a website crawler to download all of the content and put it into a torrent. The biggest is trying to keep it up to date, but as long as you are not looking to make money off of it (using it for personal use), there shouldn’t be any issues there.
Here I managed to find the thread, it is old and has not been updated for some time now, so I doubt the link is still active.
Hey everybody, has come up a few times before, but to answer again: We don’t foresee making offline documentation as it would become out of date very quickly at point (we are making major changes still), but for now there is no reason someone in the community to post them offline (for no profit of course, we want information to be free to ). One day when everything is in a more final form, we may reconsider it, but it would not be any time soon.
If anything ever changes, you will see an announcement on unrealengine.com’s page blog.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for the answers.
Actually you can save a web page (images included) from most browsers. Just click on the tools and save as .html whenever you find a topic in the online documentation that you need to look at in depth.
