Hi,
My question is how does Unreal Engine do in 2020 for 2D games?
I have been doing a lot of research on 2D games and what engine to use. I love Unreal Engine but all the research I have seen says using UE4 for 2D games is like bring a tank to a water gun fight and not to do it. However, all the articles I have seen are from like 4 years ago and a lot can change in that time.
Thank you.
It doesn’t matter if the engine can do it all efficiently, why worry. Although I have heard Unity is better for 2D. I have no idea what that’s based on.
I’d say, take a look at your favorite 2D games, and see what they’re written in.
Hello, I have never heard about Unreal Engine before but I want to know about this. My friend told me about this but he ain’t explained me better and because of this, I am searching for about it online. I was also searching for a real money gaming site through which I can earn money in real while sitting at home. I am getting bored at home and I want to earn money because all my saving is almost finished. If you also want to play you can read this post here in which you will find them like I did over there. I am earning money now while sitting at home.
Unreal Engine is meant for 3D games… You could just make a 3D environment then put the camera angle in a position that makes it look like a 2D sidescroller! If you are talking about 2D sprites and pixelated games then UE4 is not the right choice for you. There is a plugin called Paper2D (I don’t know if it is still around or not) is the only option for you but most of the tutorials are pretty old and it is not really good from what I heard.
I suggest using a different engine like Unity or Godot since both can make 2D and 3D games.
