Maybe you’re right here, 2+ columns can be useful for huge screens (it was impossible in the previous version of the modes/placement panel with 2 “hardcoded” tabs+columns, and now it’s possible with tabs separated from the list)
FYI I’m planning to send another visual update soon
my question is, is this going anywhere? i mean, did you contacted to epic staff to let you work on this, cause i really want it to happen, i really want this ui
These themes are :3 but still there are people which prefer default theme. I think that you should make one choice for default theme and other choices for yours themes I think that this is the best compromise
Very nice work! I’ve always felt that Unreal’s ui looked less professional than other software in the industry, but I understand that’s subjective. The 3D icons remind me of Maya’s old look. The dark theme you’re working on looks like it will sit perfectly next to Visual Studio. I’ll post some other cool interfaces here for inspiration.
I said that a long ago. More compact - good words! Unity is the example. I use a laptop too. With Unity, developing is nice, but with UE4 developing is possible, but much harder.
To the author of the NEW UE4 GUI:
Reduce bars/icons/tabs etc. and other stuff that isn’t actively used during development. The most important is Viewport and then other things. In Unity, all bars are thin and small icons. It really usable on the laptop.
Your design looks really nice, however it’s just a visual redesign, not a real UI/UX design. And that is what UE4 needs, a completely new designed Interface, which isn’t so much clutter, frees up space and looks clean and modern.
Oh surely, I would prefer his design a thousand times over the ugly current editor interface. But we have to be honest, as great as it looks, it’s still not “clean” in terms of UX, because the way the elements in the editor are arranged make the interface look messy no matter how good a visual reskinning is.
There isn’t much that can be done about the actual UI structure without doing a custom engine build, I’m afraid. Perhaps one day they’ll make it more modular.
Thank you very much! Guys, don’t worry, I’ll not leave you with this graphics only. I set a clear goal for myself - downloadable skin/theme.
A small report: constantly making small daily updates. For the major visual update, I need to spend ~30-40h more.
Meanwhile please keep the feedback coming. And who loves my work, please upvote! Thank you!
