Unreal Engine 4 Deserves Clean UI

4.24 UI got an update, it’s more flat already.

One problem I’ve had with the UI is undocking and docking panels is not easy and messes up the overall interface too much. Icons don’t have to be smaller, but could be movable to another panel, or minimized to a panel rather than having to use the Windows dropdown.

Let’s hope this is just a small first step in an upcoming UI theme overhaul. It would be sad if this was it for another few years.

IMHO Unreal’s UI doesn’t any huge overhaul. Yeah, it needs cleanup and some de-cluttering, it can be done with many small steps like this. Darkening panel backgrounds and few other small changes already made 4.24 much more pleasant for eyes.

I like the old style of Blueprint nodes.
These semi-transparent and super round nodes are ugly as hell to my eyes, old style was way better.

It’s unfortunate that development has stopped
But I did not despair and started experimenting!

The UI really looks like it’s a unreliable video converter software found on Softonic after a quick Google search by your father, which will either ask for $39.99 to export or add a huge watermark to your projects. UE4 deserves a better clean look.

If someone really needs cleaner UI right now, I highly recommend this:

It unfortunately does not go as far as the native support proposed in the OP of this thread would, but it still improves UE4 editor visual experience significantly.

Guys I’m new here, have they ever made any of the asked features in forums? It seems that they neither answer nor care about what you write…

I mean c’mon… they can write at least something… they can hire a guy that could answer all small feature request and fix them if they are really good suggestions or am I wrong?

Hey, cool stuff. Is this a concept UI HTML thing or an actual UI overhaul? If it’s an actual UI overhaul, would you mind open sourcing the project so could help?

job.

where i can find this please , this is beautiful

Hello, sorry to necropost if this project is offline.

We are also in experimenting in visually changing the editor. Was wondering how this style change was achieved? - its very impressive!

Was wondering if this was a asset swap with the files .png files located in <unreal version> Engine > Content > Slate > …?

I was always under an opinion that design of the OP which is on first post is just photoshop, not the actual engine screenshot. Correct me if I am wrong.

We used to joke back in 2017 that this wouldn’t be finished until UE 5 came out.

And now that UE5 has been announced, and there have been some snippets of it being used, we can see it has still the same old late 00’s UI theme design

We really need a crying icon next to the “Like” one.

Noo please don’t. This looks like a cheap fake app. Current Unreal Engine looks . This may be an option theme but not default please.

Yes. To start you can just replace PNGs as I did.
You can take a look at http://https://github.com/S-ed/UnrealEngine
But you may have a hard time going past that. As some widgets made in a weird way.

Thanks S-ed!
