Unreal Engine 4.9 Released!

This is nice and all, loads of fixes… but question: When you update these, do you update documentation? Because I am currently in 4.8.3 and learning stuff, and most of documentation and tutorials are already quite old… I don’t know if I want to even move to 4.9 because I can’t possibly take in all changes and know where I can do things better in my current projects. Am I only one overwhelmed everytime there is a big update?

I usually transition like nothing even happened, but I wasn’t one to pay much attention to documentation anyways.

I can LAUNCH my game for Android but i can’t complie .Its Strange .:frowning:

Awesooommmmmeeeee

Any idea when we might get an updated Substance Plugin to go with 4.9 engine? My project now says it’s got to have it installed even though my project doesn’t use it. I suspect that since I had plugin installed under 4.8 engine that all my 4.8 engine projects will ask for it even though they don’t use it.

this is super awesome!!

Kudos once again to Epic team, your releases are consistently impressive in their breadth and their ability to mystically anticipate what my current most significant need is within engine.

So, my scroll wheel is broken now…

I haven’t encountered a problem using scroll wheel in 4.9. Can you please log a Bug Report on AnswerHub with additional information and repro steps?

Thanks

Testing on local machine [package development/shipping html5 file]. Same error as 4.9p4

for some reason i think this is going to be very important to me , no idea how to do it but it might just be key for lock

Whoo! 4.9 Release! So I can start finding new bugs

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure he was joking about having to scroll through all notes.

Wow, great work guys! Amazing as always.

Hi ,

I can’t seem to find answerhub post for this one so we can address it fully. Can you post a link to thread so we can get one of our technicians on it? Have you run a fix up redirectors on your content browser to see if it clears these warnings?

Would it be possible to have non square support for navigation modifiers inside blueprints or at least allow us to spawn “Navigation Modifier Volume” from blueprints?

Hi , same problem for me whatever project I convert to 4.9!

Should I keep with UE 4.8 and wait for bug-hot fixes or I will upgrade can someone give me a recommendation?

This is always a case-by-case thing depending on your project. Definitely always back up your project first before migrating and testing. Unless there’s a bug fix I need to make use of I don’t migrate to newer engine versions mid-project at all. (But I always download it to play with sweet sweet new toys)

Wow, I feel silly. This is what happens when I get heavily focused on “watch for bug reports” mode.
