Hi The Earl Of Sandwich,
First try going to the Library tab > Engine version > Dropdown > Choose ‘Verify’
If that doesn’t repair it. Try bypassing the Launcher, this will help us determine where the problem is.
Go to this location (your location may differ slightly):
C:\Program Files\Unreal Engine\4.7\Engine\Binaries\Win64
Then open the ‘UE4Editor.exe’
If the .exe doesn’t open correctly, try uninstalling and re-installing 4.7.6.
Hey TJ
Thanks for the reply… I have tried all the suggestions. The engine still crashes the same at 45% in each case.
Is there anything else I can try?
You can try updating your graphics card driver. From you dxdiag it looks like you may be a version or so behind. Just make sure to not install the beta driver, they can sometimes be unstable.
That might be my problem as well
I also think 4.7.5 didn’t have problems either
You said yours crashes at 45% CPU mine seems to do the same thing except it still runs but at a slower pace
Thank you very much for the steady replies.
I will try as you suggest. If you can think of anything else that would cause a bad install, please let me know.
Driver has been updated to - Version: 350.12 - Release Date: 2015.4.14 - From the NVIDIA website.
Windows 7 says current driver is 2 versions older - so I thought it was up to date.
Sadly - no dice. Even with driver updated - still crashes at 45%
Is there any benefit in me sending you the “crash log”?
P.S. I have also uninstalled/reinstalled Engine with the new graphics driver - same crash
Yeah, if you could post anything from the Crash Log section here.
Also, when you crash you should get a Crash Reporter popup. Make sure to copy that info and send it too. Don’t forget to hit send on that report as well.
Attached is the “Crash Reporter” log and the most recent AppCrash log.
Hi The Earl Of Sandwich,
I’m unable to reproduce you issue in-house but I have created JIRA UE-14904 in our tracking software. Our developers will be investigating the issue further and we will post back here with updates as we have them.
Cheers,
TJ
Ok - Thanks TJ, you have been a great help so far.
Hey TJ,
After much confusion I finally had a hardware failure and all became clear. One of my RAM sticks failed (can you believe it?) and that is why this crash was such a mystery.
Anyway I’m back in business - am I’m very happy about it
Thanks again
Great, glad to hear it! Good luck on your project!
