Unreal Engine 4.26 Preview

Are content examples for the new / recent Niagara features available somewhere?

Just testing out getting a vertex cached mesh geo into ue4.26b via usd (from Houdini). But I am not having much luck getting texture uvs (udim or just 1001) to be recognized in my assigned materials (st primvar is present). Also tried leaving them named ‘uv’, but no luck either there. Anyone can replicate the problem or have an idea what I am missing (the documentation says textures are supported)?

Lighting artist here, I have been trying GPU lightmass a bit. So far here are my observations:

• Blazing fast (RTX 2080 Ti). Turns hours into minutes. Using a low amount of samples + denoising makes wonders in such a small amount of time, it’s amazing.
• Baking trees with a rather high resolution looks possible at a wide scale.
• The infamous seam issue when baking modules is almost gone. It’s still a bit visible when using denoising, I guess it’s because denoising is done on the texture itself, so the system has no idea when 2 shells are contiguous. A great improvement nonetheless.
• I hit a limit with 256 lights being baked. Lights over 256 are ignored.
• Soft shadows do not work on spot lights (works fine on direct, area & point lights).
• Non invert-square attenuation is not accounted for when baking.

I have been waiting for this for years, and I hope for a swift & bugless release.

im sorry but you literally had to ignore the warning that shows when you open a project warning you about not downgrading, even offering to open a copy in that same window, then click ‘more options’ instead and click to actually convert in place, at no point did you think it might be worth backing up? at no point did you think what ‘preview’ meant and that at the very top of this thread it exlicitly says not to do this?? unreal has it’s issues but this is 100% user error

So what you are saying is the feature that was working in 4.25.3 should be working in non-preview version of 4.26? ok point noted.

Yes, those two new functions are what you should use from now on. I made a mistake by removing the old functions, instead of keeping them but marking them deprecated. This will be fixed. Thanks for pointing it out.

Im on preview 2 and I noticed that there is a difference between GPU and CPU light builds for dynamic objects lit by light probes… GPU is too dark.

Preview 2 : still only Shallow Water plugin.

I can’t even compile source of 4.26 because of errors in SRemoteControlPanel.cpp

I thought there was going to be updates to World Composition?

If you’re talking about the grid based editing system, Ryan Brucks said in his unrealfest talk that it was a ways out from release which I interpreted as “Not coming in 4.26”
