Unreal Engine 4.22 Preview

I know there are not a lot of us but as a macOS user can I say thanks so much! 4.22 is like an order of magnitude better than 4.21 is for me in terms of performance, actual 60fps+ editor, no screaming fans, amazing.

Good question, I was wondering about the same thing.

The RTX 2070 are not able to bridge with NVLink (lacks connector) while with RTX 2080 you can. Thou 2 x RTX2080’s price seems the same as RTX 2080TI, you will end with 16GB VRAM instead of just 11GB, so the possibilities of upgrading are better. Since it is uncertain UE will present us with multi-GPU support, other 3D software are currently able to work with multi-GPU and fine with NVLink.

How can I open the RayTracing?I think my GTX1080ti can run it with a low FPS and I really would like to see what it looks like.

Anyone managed to get a pathtraced render without noise/fireflies? I’m aware the implementation is for getting a ground truth baseline but would be nice if we could use it for quick viz as well :slight_smile: Edit: Talking about the cvars here. Just seems that no matter how high I crank things up, it’s impossible to get a clean result.

Is this feature enable by default in 4.22? If so we would no longer have to deal with instanced static meshes when designing environments.

Yes, it’s enabled by default. I tried with complex modular buildings, with many repetitive pieces, and it works pretty good, some were reduced from 5000 to 500 calls. I think you right about instanced static meshes.But also it’s probably still more optimal to merge actors by hand, because you can merge different static meshes sharing same materials, reducing draw calls even more.

Can you please provide the name of the bug submission you attempted to enter? This could be related to any files you may be attempting to attach as well. If you can give me the name, I can see if it went through.

How about NO ? Better evolve Blueprints (that was the whole selling point of UE4 to begin with) and additionally add C# (not that I am a fan of C#, but at least a ton of people use it on daily basis).

I didn’t attach any files, the name of the submission was “Import of Retarget Base Pose works incorrectly”.

It looks like it automatically fails as long as you select affected version “4.22 Preview”. I submitted a bug about the Bug Report Form being broken using version 4.21 and it went through just fine. It’s probably the 4.22 that’s the culprit.

When you add a command line argument -dx12 with UE4Editor.exe in the original file path properties, then you double-click any shortcut you already create it in the desktop,
It will work without problems. But I did not notice any change in Ray Tracing.

But when you add a command line argument in the properties of the shortcut file on the desktop, You will encounter problems such as overlapping graphics with some mixing commands with each other.

Thank you . As I have just responded on the bug, the cause has been identified and we have fixed the problem. The issue was with selecting the 4.22 Preview as the affected version. Please let us know if you continue to encounter any problems.

I have tried on Linux, and the sequencer renders image sequence as black. On the preview of the video, render camera goes crazy. I would suggest checking that part. It does not crash in all what I have tried, but in that section, it does not work.
