I just feel bummed that forward rendering is getting no love these days and other things many of us still use for production,
I have no problem with new features but I’m always surprised to see so much hype over other areas such as Raytracing which are far far from either being useful in current production or even performant for years to come or most importantly accessible to players for years to come from a vast audience reach-ability standpoint. Frankly even as a visually driven person I don’t see the big difference at the moment of what raytrace is bringing to the table vs what a good baker would already do very well unless it’s a complete overhaul in realtime with full area shadows and reflections and affordable to all running on 80% of all current player computers and platforms, other than that it’s a hobbyist thing.
So many pages here just trying to play with this new half baked toy, there is nothing wrong about it but sooo many areas in UE4 that are actually needed for every day work seem to be either delayed or neglected. And I don’t mean this in a bad way towards the devs at Epic i’m sure they are all very hard working. Just seems like a bizzare roadmap to me.
I have an issue with the viewport/UI when using -dx12. The UI is jumpy and scales randomly when accessing viewport-droplist and while the editor compiles shaders.
The compiling of shaders also takes forever.
Any ideas?
Dell Alienware
Nvidia Game ready Driver 418.91
2 x RTX2080
Nice update, I was really looking forward this one, I wanted to upgrade my Graphics card since a while, anyone knows if there is any difference for RTX using a 2070 or 2080 in terms of quality? or it’s just fps? I will use DXR on my 3D environments to make them look pretty, is not going to be playable.
I have the same problem however even though I get the crash message the editor still opens and works fine.
Try to leave the crash report opened for a minute and see if your editor opens if it doesn’t then it behaves differently to mine.
Hope that helps.
I’m having problems opening my project, whatever I do it completely crashes, it stops at 75%, stays there for minutes… sometimes more then 10 and then crahes.
I guess I have to wait for the next preview still I’d like to know if there is a memory issue. I have a 2080ti with 11GB.
My curent project uses 8GB out of 11 dedicated when opened in 4.21 should I expect the same memory usage with 4.22? Or do I need more video memory? Does anyone know?
