Unreal Engine 4.10.4 stuck on load without static lighting

Installed Unreal Engine 4.10.4 on a Windows 8.1 machine. Tried to disable static lighting for a project (Project settings → rendering → allow static lighting). The editor prompts for a restart, but after restarting, the editor will get stuck on load at 45% everytime. What might be the problem here?

Machine specs:
Dell Inspiron 7548 laptop, Intel Core i7-5500U, 16GB memory, AMD Radeon R7 M270 graphics card, Windows 8.1

I have same trouble, but stuck on 95% with any projects!
CPU loading 100%
Windows 7
Nvidia GTX650 / Nvidia GTX650TI / Nvidia GTX980

Hello NamoDev,

Thank you for reaching out to the Epic support team. We have recently restructured our support system to better assist our users across Epic’s growing catalog of products.

Epic Games launcher support will now be handled by our Player Support team through an email ticketing system and active knowledge base. This support will encompass the download and installation of the launcher and the various Epic Games products hosted on the launcher (UE, UT, Shadow Complex, Fortnite, and Paragon). The launcher support team will also handle connection issues related to these products. The launcher support site can be accessed here (http://help.epicgames.com/).

Traditionally, Unreal Engine support has been handled through AnswerHub, and this particular process will not change. Users of the Unreal Engine may continue to post questions and issues as normal and interact with the engine support team. Any questions or issues that arise prior to the successful installation of the Unreal Engine should be directed at the website above and the launcher support team.

Those seeking assistance with the other individual products may do so through the following pages:

Unreal Tournament - http://help.unrealtournament.com/

Shadow Complex - http://shadowcomplexhelp.epicgames.com/

Fortnite - Coming soon

Paragon - http://paragonhelp.epicgames.com/

The problem is not with the launcher. It’s about the engine editor. The editor won’t load projects properly when turning static lighting off.

Hi NamoDev and TON14,

Sorry for the confusion and delay on this. I’m on the Engine Support team and will be glad to help investigate this issue for you. Since it has been a few weeks though, can you please let me know if you are still experiencing this problem? And do you have any new information to share?

Thanks

Hi =)

  1. Create default project in 4.8 - 4.11
Just uncheck “Allow Static lighting” on editor preference
  2. Agree with “restart now” or manualy restart Unrel Editor.
  3. On next loading Project stuck on same % , BUT on different PC different %
    PC1 - 95%
    PC2 - 45%

Temporal solition:
Cnange in config file to Allow Static lighting=1

Hey TON14,

I followed your directions, and could see why you think the editor freezes or gets stuck, but in actuality it is working as intended. It did take a second for the project to re-open and it did stop at 45%, but I just let it sit for a minute and the project loaded fine.

Just to make sure your project is working in the background during the loading process, just press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to see the processes running.

Let me know if you have further questions and I can continue to assist you.

Cheers,

YOU RIGHT! =) It’s don’t stuck!
It’s loading but it take 1 h 20 min + recompile all shaders 45 min on default scene.
