Unreal Editor does not use GPU on Laptops

I use an ASUS TUF Gaming F15 2021 Laptop that has 1650 for a dedicated GPU and an i5-10300H for CPU, so it has two GPUs, GPU 0 is for the CPU and GPU 1 is for the 1650; I’m using the latest Studio driver, yet for some reason Unreal Editor always decides to completely ignore it’s existence, having 0% utilization at all times when the Editor is open.

I tried all the solutions I could find online to try and fix it - change the NVIDIA Control Panel to always use GPU 1 instead of GPU 0, set Unreal Editor in Windows’ Graphics settings to “Best Performance” and other seemingly unrelated things like forcefully deleting my GPU 0 Drivers so the editor HAS to use GPU 1, but to no avail.

I wouldn’t be so frustrated with this if it wasn’t for the fact that an empty FirstPerson preset scene yields the best of 50 FPS with Global Illumination method switched from Lumen to Screen Space and it’s pretty uncomfortable to work like that to say the least.

Unreal has no choice in the matter; it’s the windows shell extension for power management that chooses.

It is usually possible to open some “power configuration” control panel, and tell it to use the discrete GPU for all programs within some sub-folder, or maybe select the engine specifically as a configuration.

Well, unless there are some extra toggles in Windows aside Graphics Settings and NVIDIA Control Panel - I’ve tried all possible options and none of them work, each time I type stat gpu I only see the stat for GPU 0, that being my CPU.

Turns out - I had to install Windows 11 to fix the issue, Jesus Christ…
