Hello Unreal forum users,
I just want to complaint about Unreal Engine itself, because when I work with the animation sequencer or with UMG, Unreal crashes everytime I work.
This happens when I compile or save the project. I didn’t change the C++ code of Unreal Engine, so I don’t know what the real problem is.
The computer contains the recommended specifications for Unreal Engine.
I hope you can solve my problem, so I can work with Unreal Engine WITHOUT crashes.

Hello Skittluier,
I have a few questions for you that will help narrow down what issue it is that you are experiencing.
Quick questions:
- What version of the engine are you using?
- Can you reproduce this issue in a clean project?
- If so, could you provide a detailed set of steps to reproduce this issue on our end?
- Could you provide a screen shots to any blueprints that may be relevant?
Hello Rudy,
I’ll work on it right now. You’ll hear from me later!
Hello Rudy,
1 → The first thing I did was creating a new animation sequence file in the ‘Animation’ folder.
At your step 5 I used the First Person template skeleton instead of a usual image and moved the arms. Then compiled and saved.
2 → I can’t provide the dxdiag, because the PC is in the office, so I can check it on Friday.
3 → Not tried. I will try it on my home PC.
Here is a picture before the crash:
PS: I think the UMG crash was something rare, but the animation sequence is a frequent event.
Hello Skittluier,
I could not reproduce this issue on our end with the information that was provided. I have added an image to UMG and I have added several key frames but I cannot get the editor to crash.
Here are the steps that I took:
- Created a clean first person (C++) project
- Created a new widget blueprint
- Added an image to the designer tab
- Created a new animation sequence
- I set a key frames to move the image from side to side and up and down
- Compiled and then Saved
- No crash
Quick Questions:
- Are there any steps that may have been left out or that you may have done differently?
- Could you provide your dxdiag?
- Does this happen on all new projects that you create?
Hello Skittluier,
After realizing you talking not talking about animations in UMG I was able to reproduce this issue on our end. I have written up a report ( UE-15561) and I have submitted it to the developers for further consideration. I will provide updates with any pertinent information at it becomes available.
Make it a great day
