I tried opening Unreal Engine 4 today and it doesn’t open at all. It just crashes before it even opens, throwing me into an Unreal Engine 4 crash reporter. Here is what the event logger says:

How do I fix this issue?
P.S. I have no idea if I have version 4.7. I just selected it.
Hi MadDemon64,
Can you provide more information about this crash?
- Did the Launcher used to open but now doesn’t?
- Are you able to open a project by double-clicking on the uproject? (Documents/UnrealProjects/YourProject/ YourProject.uproject)?
Please delete these folders from your UE4’s installation directory:
- Intermediate
- Saved
- DerivedDataCache
After deleting those folders and restarting the Editor, if that does not fix the issue, please provide as many of the following as possible:
- Your dxdiag (Windows Start Button>(search “dxdiag”)>Launch dxdiag>select “Save all information”>attach text file to your post.)
- If the Crash Reporter window is present when the crash occurs, select “Copy Callstack to the Clipboard,” and paste that information in a document and add to this post. Be sure to hit “Submit” on the Crash Reporter pop-up to send the Crash Report to Epic.
- “UE4.log” Located: Engine\Saved\Logs\
- “ProjectName.log” Located: ProjectName\Saved\Logs\
Providing this information and appropriate logs will help us track down and isolate the source of the bug as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Thanks for your cooperation,
.
- Yes, it used to open before I upgraded to Windows 10.
- I do not have any projects
- I do not know where to find the Intermediate, Saved, and DerivedDataCache files
- The crash reporter does not list any callstack and I do not have a UE4.log or ProjectName.log
- I have attached the dxdiag
Also, when I went looking for the files, I tried experimenting with the different launchers, using the 32 bit instead of the 64 bit. Now it does open, but I get a “Update failed: A file corruption has occured. Please try again.” message.
Would a fresh reinstall of Unreal fix my problems?
Upgrading to Windows 10 is the major factor here… You will want to make sure you have the latest updates for Windows 10. Then install/reinstall the editor from scratch. If you experience issues installing UE4.10 on Windows 10, you may need to follow the instructions from this link: Cannot Install on Windows 10
And it failed to installed.
“The necessary prerequisites have failed to install. Error Code E-1223”
Edit
Nevermind. Tried installing it again and it worked.
