I have been encountering a persistent issue (and very disruptive issue) with Niagara. I am not sure what is the root cause and would like support on this.
- Unreal crashes every time I try to run it in viewport
- Unreal crashes also when I open some Niagara Systems directly
- One quick fix I found after much search on Google was to do a “Full Rebuild” of the parent Niagara Emitter and Apply Changes. This needs to be done for all parent emitters the system is inheriting from. This allows the child Niagara Systems to be opened.
- But this is not 100% successful all the time…Sometimes, for some reason the child Niagara System gets corrupted that no matter how many times I do a full rebuild of the parent emitter, it does not open and crashes Unreal
- Even if the systems are working correctly, Unreal keeps crashing when playing in viewport AND/OR even if there is a problematic system, Unreal seems to load the game when launching it Standalone
- Issue I am noticing with Standalone is I am not seeing any updated FX. It is as though it is running a build of some previously compiled FX.
- Initially, I kept thinking it is due to my FX but I am not sure anymore.
- I have submitted bug reports on this issue on Epic site
