Unreal console dev?

I was looking around, and found out that Unreal doen’t support Xbox One, PlayStation 4, or Wii U. Why? I am developing a game that is for PC, PS4, XO, and WU and I wanted to use Unreal. Then I found out about lack of console support. I really wanted to use Unreal, but at the same time, I really don’t want to use 2 engines. Unity supports all of the platforms I want. Is there any way to develop for console with Unreal?

Just like with Unity you need to be registered developer on those platforms to be able to build to them (at least for X1/PS4).

Unreal Engine (UE4) supports PC, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS, PS4, and Xbox One
If you want to develop for PS4 or Xbox One you have to register and be accepted into the Sony/Microsoft developer programs, once accepted you can then request access from Epic for the version of UE4 that supports PS4/Xbox One and then you also get access to the part of the forums for those platforms. Realize though they don’t accept everyone, you either have to already have games developed in the past, or you have to prove that you are capable of developing a project.

As far as Wii U goes. It can’t run UE4, and since it’s dead there’s no reason to support it anyways.

Wii U is new, Wii is dead. Anyway, thanks for the help!

Wii U is currently ending production and is being replaced by the NX in March, if you’re looking for a platform where you’ll have a good chance of success then Wii U isn’t a good choice.

Ok. Will Unreal support the NX?

Remains to be seen, but probably not.

It’ll probably be capable, but it depends on Nintendo trying to support other developers and Epic being interested in the platform.
