Unreal assets in my games

Would Epic be okay with me using assets (mostly static meshes) found in Unreal demo projects (Reflections, ScifiBunk, etc.) in my games? Would I need a separate license for that, and would I need to pay? An answer from someone at Epic would be best, but if someone else can point me to the terms and conditions pages for the demos, that’d be much appreciated too. Thanks in advance.

You are free to use the to use the content provided by Epic in both free and commercial projects. There’s some demos available along with projects for learning and you can use the assets from any of those without paying anything extra.

Whatever you download via the Unreal 4 Launcher you are free and licensed to use the assets in any Unreal 4 project.

This also means you can use the assets from Infinity Blade and Infiltrator…just saying…

Thanks a lot! Yes, Infinity Blade, Reflections, Infiltrator, and Elemental… the last one is my favorite so far.

Sorry to reviving this thread. I was looking for some hints regarding using unreal assets commercially and found this.
And I got a bit curious about this statement "Whatever you download via the Unreal 4 Launcher you are free and licensed to use the assets in any Unreal 4 project. "

Please correct me if I am wrong (which I’d like to be in this particular case)

  1. You are allowed to use Unreal assets in commercial games (Blade, Infiltrator, SciFi Bunker) because Epic is so epic!
  2. But you (and me) are not allowed to use 3rd party demos like SciFi Hallway etc… for commercial things… even if you coud download them via launcher… Are you?

Thank you!

If it’s on the launcher, you can use it.

The only restrictions would be:

  1. Cannot use in any non-Unreal Engine project.

  2. Cannot resell the assets themselves (e.g. Buying a rock mesh from the marketplace and then including in a landscape pack that you sell.)

For my own peace of mind, when I use anything I didn’t make myself, I make sure to document exactly where I got it in case a question ever comes up.

The Infiltrator demo has some very useful assets in it, the hallway pieces and walkways are particularly nice. I’m really impressed at Epic releasing such useful assets to the UE4 community.

It’s already available.

Just check out this sorry sack of ****:

It’s the Advanced Vehicle demo, with a few colored track pieces added. Even the skybox is the UE4 default.

It’s straight out of the example.

Lol. It’s great that it isn’t a broken Panzer special.
