Unreal 5x generally produces Low FPS 27-30 on RTX 4080 when testing ElectricDreams or CitySample

Hi, I am new here and a curious engineer exploring Unreal 5.3 engine and powers.

I have a custom rig that I built in Feb 2022 on a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Pro mobo with an AMD Ryzen 9 - 3900X 12-core CPU, 64GB DDR4 RAM, and NVME SSDs. I just upgraded the graphics card from an NVIDIA RTX-2070 Founders to a Gigabyte RTX-4080.

Games seem to detect the new card (I see in Halo Infinity it works well), and I see an uptick in GPU performance and quality. However, when I try the Unreal 5.3 engine on CitySample and ElectricDreams example projects, the FPS is really low, the animation is jerky, and I get between 13 and 28 FPS. I’ve read a few posts about CPU bottlenecks but I just do not see how this 12-core can be a bottleneck.

Can someone give me a few pointers as to what I might need to change in my configuration to see the amazing powers in the latest Unreal engine?

Thanks!

I mean in-game performance of 3900x is basically the same as my 12100f so cores don’t matter much. Try typing “stat unit” command to see if gpu or cpu is your bottleneck
