Unreal 5.6.1 - Landscape Mode "Add" does not properly add segments to the landscape

When I attempt to re-add segments I’ve deleted within my Landscape, they do not seem to be added at the proper height. They sometimes visually appear at the proper height, but my character just falls right through them.

I created a new empty project in both 5.5.4 and 5.6.1 and the issue is only present on 5.6.1

Any solution or temporary workaround?

  1. Add a component in a spot within the Landscape that you’ve deleted

  1. Attempt to add another component within an adjacent space. Notice that the preview is incorrect.

  1. Save your changes, notice that the components do not appear in the correct location.

I found a temporary workaround for this, if you use the “Sculpt” tool on the affected components it seems to fix the component’s height data. You can then use the “Erase” tool to make the component flat again.

This definitely seems like a bug where the height data is not being set properly when a component is created using the “Add” tool.

Hey there @DoomTurtleGreg! Welcome to the community! Looks like you found a bug. It doesn’t seem to be occurring on my side. If possible, could you submit the bug’s info here?

Thanks @SupportiveEntity, will do.

Not sure if its helpful at all but here’s a video of this bug occuring in a brand new project.

IMHO, get off 56 and onto 57. Ver 56 seems as it was one of those buggy-builds.

Epic won’t agree/disagree but they only released 1 update for 56 and moved to 57 rather quickly; which in my experience is the tell the company doesn’t ‘like’ that build either (56)..

Recommendation: test in 57 and consider upgrade.

Thanks for the insight on 5.6…

Tested out the problems I was having in 5.7 and they all seem to be resolved. Looks like I’ll be doing an engine upgrade.

Cheers!
