Unreal 5.5.4 Sequencer adding frames every time I cut

I am working on a project where all the mocap was recorded to finished audio playback, and we are editing to that audio in unreal to line everything up. We create an animation sequence for each scene, make our shots in individual sequences with the anim sequence subsequenced in, then do a master sequence with a shot track to edit them all together in unreal to then render out.

The problem I’m having is when I cut in the sequencer shot track (using ctrl + /) sequencer adds frames to the new section, causing frames from the previous cut to get repeated, which gets the whole timeline out of sync with the audio. I don’t know why its doing this but it is a huge problem for our timing purposes. Is there a setting I’m missing? Or does anyone know why this is happening? Thanks!
