There is something that I have noticed with this computer in particular, the UI for UE 5.3.2 will just stop. The editor doesn’t crash, and the logs don’t show any unhandled exceptions or errors. In fact, it outputs as if nothing ever happened and everything is operating “normally”.
It happens at random, but more specifically it tends to happen when trying to import assets, or open an asset window (like a skeletal mesh asset), it just… stops, but it doesn’t crash, it just looks like the UI silently breaks but doesn’t report anything back to the engine in any way? Or it’s waiting for something that never completes?
The weird thing is, I can import the assets and do work on any other computer just fine, it just seems to be this laptop. Is there something about this laptop in particular that’s causing these issues (I am aware that a 3050TI isn’t very powerful, but it should still function). To confirm this, I also have a desktop PC with a dedicated 3050TI GPU as well and it operates just fine. What could be going on, I want to be able to use this laptop on some occasions to present or do some work but UE 5.x has been very unreliable with this machine.
Is it the fact that the laptop is switchable graphics and it’s doing something that’s causing UE to get into this unknown state? I tried going into my BIOS settings to force using a dedicated GPU but it doesn’t have that option unfortunately.
