After some time in the unreal engine 5.1 editor I progressively get more and more visual bugs like this one, restarting the editor fix the problem… Any advice ?
I think you’re run out of VRAM. What’s your GPU?
I have a RTX 3600Ti with 8go VRAM. I’ll monitor the VRAM usage and find a way to optimize it! Thank you for your answer!
It’s not VRAM if you have a RTX 3600Ti… I have a 1080 and have never experienced issues like you have.
There can be several reasons why you’re experiencing visual bugs in the Unreal Engine 5.1 editor, and it’s hard to give a specific solution without more information about your project and setup. However, here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
- Check if your GPU drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers can cause visual bugs and crashes.
- Close unnecessary programs running in the background to free up memory and resources.
- Check if you have any asset or level that is causing the issue and try to delete or move it from your project.
- Try to restart your computer and then the editor, sometimes the system resources can become overwhelmed and cause the issues.
If the problem persists, you can also try creating a new project and importing your assets and levels into it, to see if the issue is specific to your current project.
If none of these solutions work, you can try to gather more information about the issue by using the Unreal Engine’s built-in logging system. You can find more information on how to use it in the Unreal Engine documentation.
It’s worth noting that sometimes, bugs and glitches can be caused by the engine itself, in that case, checking for updates and waiting for the next version may fix the problem.
Also, is that decals on the walls I see, or are they complete meshes with just a texture?
Could be
Hmm, crap… The scene doesn’t look that expensive to be honest.
If a 3600Ti who is faster than my 1080 is able to run out of VRAM, then I am worried for my wallet
I have a 6G 1660Ti, and am constantly running out of VRAM.
Two copies of the editor and auditioning assets will do it every time.
I’d like to think it’s a bit of a bug ( please… )
The result is usually brightly colored squares everywhere. So, yes, it doesn’t quite fit the symptoms, but…
