Unreal 4 Import

I have an animation that involves a rigged character interacting with a ball. I rigged both the character and the ball in 3ds max 2016. When importing to unreal the rigged character works fine when i import the mesh and animation separately, but the ball wont import the animation though the mesh imports. What i’m i missing?

Did you make sure to set the skeleton to the mesh that you imported separately? Are you using the same skeleton? With the same bone structure? Are you using roots?
