Some time ago i made a post in the WIP section wich was then moved into tutorial’s. I have searched some time for help and send some E-Mails to people who might be interested but understandably everyone has it’s own project’s. Thing is that i have learned lockpicking and worked out a concept how to transfer lockpicking into video games. Since even the biggest titles have kind of failed to create something realistic and there are also no tutorials or market item’s available that would work in a multiplayer Environment i thought this might be very interesting.
I am no coder and i have no background in coding, animation or … any other skill that is needed to progress any further. So i would like to make a request for a partnership of some kind.
As the title say’s this project is unpaid, but i also have no interest in monitisation. I would like to see this concept come to life and to have it as an item on the Unreal Market (Or get a version for private use). Other then that i don’t wan’t a share of some kind. So if that’s of any importance, whoever would like to code this “beast” can do with it whatever he want’s. I would do my best to further support this project. Should you have any question’s, tip’s or request’s, i am all ear’s.
Maybe someone know’s someone? No idea how to progress now ^^
New plan: Maybe this project is too big for one or two persons only. So i would like to put a team together.
This way it wouldn’t be all “on you” and at some point maybe we could get a professional on board who could guide and give some tip’s during development. I know some people.
However, this is my last try. Contact me for further information and also tell me a little about yourself and your project’s. I will add you to the team. Actual development would start if we had enough people for this kind of project.
I don’t think the problem is with the size of the project. I think the issue is why would someone be motivated to do this?
You mention “i also have no interest in monitisation” so they isn’t even a possible payment from this. It’s not really a big enough project that to tick the ‘worked on shipped a game’ box on a CV. Unless you can find someone who is really specifically into lock picking then it feel like a lot of work for little to no return.
If you are really motivated to get this done, why not try building it yourself. Blueprints lower the barrier of entry to coding a fair amount and lots of people are willing to help you when you get stuck. But this is a big ask.
Also note with something like this throwing multiple people at the project is not going to speed it up that much, as soon as you have a team on such a small feature the confusion that generate by trying to work in parallel is going to be a big overhead. What you would be better off doing is looking for a modeller who could work with them as the lockup are going to require someone to build the meshes and this would not usually be a coder.
About the “i also have no interest in monitisation” part. I thought i was clear but there seem’s to be an misunderstanding. I don’t want money from it once finished. What you do with it is yours.
So if you think it is a cool idea and there are people who would like to have this in their project, put a price tag on it and put it on the market. I don’t want a share.
My idea, your profit. Thought that should be fair enough. Thank you for the Feedback.
Edit
Kinda disappointed to be honest. There is a game design flaw that no stealth game whatsoever has managed to nail down before. Someone comes along and put’s his time and effort into it to write a concept that would fix this issue. Similar to the weird ■■■ way Hacking is depicted in video games (and movies for that matters) there is almost no good example for lockpicking in video games that isn’t a very far stretch, to say the least.
Would have thought someone would get this and might be interested to polish his portfolio with such a project, but apparently between NSFW games with Ogres and Hide and Seek multiplayer templates this is too much of a niche to even ask for.
Well then. I’ll try my luck with other platforms. Al tough i don’t believe this will lead anywhere either.
Or try exchanging skills (services), if you can do something that help others with their projects, there may be somebody who agrees to code in return of something else.
I read your tutorial post, honestly all of that looks quite complicated to code, that also may be reason nobody wants to help.
