Hi guys just see unity3d roadmap and there in research tab i see Visual Scripting, new particles, procedural animation and others cool stuff, I even think unity team looking on UE4 and stolen some features).
Epic need work harder to add new features, stability(we know about crashes), performance, good physic, because UE4 even don’t have normal 2d and its very hard for mobile(but in unity all ok), and Epic don’t do anything for fix that or do but very slow, for now i MUST learn also unity3d(But i don’t have a time for both) because i don’t believe in ue4 so much now(i start from 4.0), for now I still have crashes, my project some times don’t build, and I wait normal 2d with sprite blending like in unity, optimization for old phone like “galaxy s2” level, but nothing!!! What you think guys what engine be a better in future?
PS in Ukraine I never saw vacancies on UE4, only unity3d!!!
Have you looked at the UE4 roadmap? It’s pretty nice too! (And Epic beat the Unity guys in most fields a long time ago!)
Also, We don’t say P.S.2… I don’t know what is correct. But I know that is not!
In the end… UE4 I believe will be the better of them. All we need is some more optimizations. That’s it really.
I don’t know why it always has to be either, or. Unity or Unreal. They are both tools to build games and apps. Unity has a bit more time developing their interface and it seems a little more intuitive to me. Unreal is stunning visually and blueprints setup very logically, step by step. Both free. Both names start with U and N. Neither one is standing still, they have great features and more great features coming. I do think this forum (Unreal’s) rocks a little harder than Unity’s.
Who cares dude? the only thing that matters is do you know how to use any of these engines fully? or really good? have you seen the roadmap for UE4 ? its 10x more impressive.
My biggest problem is lack of tutorials for both engines, and C++ sucks.
I don’t understand why EPIC doesn’t pay more attention to their website. I’ve said it many times, having Trello, Answerhub, Official site, Forums all these are separate sites with different designs that make it very hard for the average user to use or remember.
Nowadays users can easily recognize a serious company/service by their website only, hire web devs and incorporate everything to the official site.
I can reach Trello, Answerhub, forums and more all from the www.unrealengine.com site. No problem in finding them.
The Answerhub and forums are 2 different sites, but they have different usage. And I’d rather have Epic working on new features/bug fixes for the engine than implementing an overall look & feel for the forums and Answerhub.
Hi2all, I start this tread because see unity3d roadmap(and of course also see UE4 roadmap). UE4 is first game engine in my life, and i choose UE4 because i think it wold be a lead engine but after time i not so sure(oh this crashes, performance and bad 2d)… In UE4 my main feature is a BP, it’s super cool feature, but now I see in Unity roadmap their visual scripting and another features like dx12 and etc in development, so in time maybe we have equal engines(now unity 5 doesn’t have visuals like UE4 but it close)in visuals but for now unity has normal 2d, support more platforms, and it can run on galaxy s1. So i hope devs see this tread and make some change and optimization to fix all problems. I very like UE4 and don’t want go to unity!!
PS maybe some one see one feature in Unity development list it was called Sequencer)))) its be funny if they can build it faster Epic
zip said, “PS maybe some one see one feature in Unity development list it was called Sequencer”. I did notice that. Who ever gets there first, the other will probably have to change their name. Hallelujah! Competition is good!
I disagree and in their defense these tools they use are the same tools a lot of us use everyday (for me in my professional coding life) AnswerHub is stackoverflow, Trello is project management software we’ve all used once or twice. Everyone is familiar with forums if the other 2 don’t work out for you. If something has already been done why re-invent the wheel? All the tools are linked from their main page and again, these are popular tools. I appreciate they realize that and are putting resources into things that we’d probably rather have. Maybe in the future they can do something more slick and proprietary but for now… IMHO… there is nothing wrong with the current setup. Just my 2 cents. Hell for all we know they are already working on it.
