Uninstalling UE does not remove shader caches on macOS

Didn’t change any settings, old projects load in fine but any new projects crash UE. reinstalling did not solve this issue. how do I fully reinstall? I noticed that the shaders do not recompile even after reinstalling

Also please fix the tags, why do I need to make it 4-27 for UE5, it’s confusing for new users :frowning:

okay… this is really upsetting me. uninstalling UE does not remove shader caches located at Users>user>Library>Application Support>Epic
either way the folder is called UnrealEngine and removing it magically forced UE to recompile the shaders…

This is a sizeable cache, uninstalling UE should not leave this many junk files behind, especially if this can cause issues

Someone should look into fixing this as soon as possible, it’s a very annoying, I had to manually look through system files to find this.

I’m a designer, not a developer and yet to use most software I have to spend hours debugging it first. this should not be the user’s responsibility. Although you do get points for not including spyware like Adobe…

Anyway I hope someone notices this issue and that it can be addressed quickly
