Trying to uninstall UE 4.22, but the engine version is not visible in my library within the Epic Games launcher. Tried “installing” 4.22 again within the same directory its located in hopes that the install would be recognized, but I’m just prompted that the directory must be empty. Also doesn’t show up in Programs & Features.
If I need to manually delete the files, are there any other files that must be removed aside from the main directory? (like anything in appdata for example)
That’s quite bizarre, if the install is not showing up in the Epic Launcher, it should already be gone from your system. It is possible that certain elements in appdata and the registry are left, so clearing those up should help you here. Still, I would suggest a clean slate approach:
First, since you already uninstalled the engine, you only need to remove asset packs, and the Launcher itself
Next, open the registry directory HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Epic Games\Unreal Engine\Builds, and delete any build entries you see there
Finally, delete the folders %userprofile%\AppData\Local\UnrealEngine and %userprofile%\AppData\Local\UnrealHeaderTool
After that, no elements related to UE should be left in your system
Now, reinstall the UE launcher from scratch, no traces of 4.22 should be left
Optionally, install one of the latest versions of the engine, and test a clean project
