Understanding and Teaching Python for Unreal Engine

WHAT

Python is an essential and in-demand skill for students who are looking to fill technical roles in film, games and visualization and for educators seeking to develop the next-gen skills in their students.

Python has become the go-to programming language for developing production pipelines in the media and entertainment industry. It’s a great choice for automating workflows within the Unreal Editor while still being relatively easy for those new to programming to learn. Python offers the ability to create tools that extend Unreal’s functionality: allowing Unreal to work with other applications, automating repetitive tasks and even integrate into Unreal’s UMG user interface system.

This week, Graphics, Tools, and Engine Programmer, Mohammad Moniem will take us through many of the features of Python in Unreal Engine, as well as discuss learning resources and examples that he has created to help understand, learn and teach Python in Unreal Engine.

Please join us once again on Friday, October 16 for another informative and valuable Educator Livestream on twitch.tv/unrealengine.

Beyond editor scripting, what scripting system is actually coming to UE5?
C’mon @TomMegaShannon give something away, a hint anything please… :stuck_out_tongue:

I have my scripting efforts on hold until I have some clue as well.
If there’s a plug & play API for scripting (runtime) coming, then I want to be ready for it.

They probably won’t tell us anyway, as they want to keep it for a big UE5 reveal.
But its the biggest open-secret ever! And like you said, it would help devs plan.

Plan?! It would make me ditch Unity in seconds :>
