Just decided to start out with UE as a beginner, and quickly noticed some performance issues. I did a clean install, while adding the debug symbols because I thought it would come in handy. I set up quixel bridge and downloaded and added a nanite shelf. Performance is now abysmal, and I have only added one asset. My specs aren’t anything amazing, but I thought for sure it would be able to handle it. Specs: GPU - 3050 ti 4gb, CPU - Intel Core i7-11370H RAM - 16GB DDR4 3200mhz. I would post a recording, but I’m new here. Just walking around its saying I’m exceeding the video memory buy about 100mbs, and whenever I shoot, that number goes up to about 1400mb, freezing everything. This is a very basic scene, so I don’t think this should be happening. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Hello there @DriftFireStudio!
Unfortunately, your specs are running a bit short in video and RAM for UE5. Please test some of these steps to improve your current performance:
- Update your nVIDIA drivers, make sure you are picking the “Clean Installation” option, as well as going for the “Developer” drivers, as these have more stable settings for engine work.
-
Please make sure you have the latest updates for both Unreal and Windows.
-
In Unreal Engine, reduce the values for engine scalabillty to the minimal.
- Disable Hardware Raytracing from the engine.
- If no improvements are achieved, you can test using Unreal Engine 4, which will be less taxing on your system. Hope this helps!
Thank you so much! In the scalability settings, it was set to the epic preset for some reason. I just dialed it back to high, and it runs smooth as butter! Thank you!
