Unable to reinstall Unreal engine after deleting it

Hey guys I hope you are doing well. I am running into some issues with UE So initially I had installed unreal engine and did not have any issues. Unfortunately due to some unforeseen issue I had to uninstall Unreal engine and epic games launcher I had no issues installing the launcher but when I go to the option for installing unreal engine I am unable to.

I have actually tried this twice and I just see the option not installed and when I click on unreal engine 5.5.3 I cant seem to install either

Any help would be really appreciated, hopefully Once I get this issue resolved I hope to learn the engine and try things.

Hello there @zakyvids! Let’s see what we can do here.

Considering your scenario, I would suggest a full uninstall/reinstall of all Epic software:

  • First, uninstall the engine, launcher, asset packs, etc
  • Next, open the registry directory HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Epic Games\Unreal Engine\Builds, and delete any build entries
  • Finally, delete the folders %userprofile%\AppData\Local\UnrealEngine and %userprofile%\AppData\Local\UnrealHeaderTool
  • After that, reinstall UE launcher from scratch, and add your desired version of the engine

Hi there @brs-sebascova Thankyou for the reply I forgot to mention that I also see the following once epic launcher has been downloaded on device after the following the steps outlined in the previous reply. I did not see the security icon intially when I first downloaded it However after the deletion I see the security icon next to install

Hello again!

Seeing the security icon at this point is normal, since you have removed all Epic programs from your PC, now it’s considering it new software. Make sure you perform the installation with Administrator rights, there should be no further issues at this point.
