Hi guys. I am getting better with Blueprint, but I have hit a snag that I can not solve. I created an Asteroid in my game. What I am trying to make it do is move from its starting position to a TargetPoint that I made as soon as I press play. It won’t budge. I have tried everything I can think of. I will also mention that I created rotate blueprints with no issue at all. I do not think it is related to this problem, but I thought I would mention it in case it becomes relevant.
I am posting a picture of what I have currently for trying to move it forward and what I am using for rotate.alt text
The image for my rotate BP will not upload. But oh well, rotating works fine, I was only trying to include it in case it became relavent for some reason.
i think if your using the move to location you’ll need to setup a Nav Mesh. but you can try to add something like this to make it move in the direction it is facing.
Thnx but some of the options you are mentioning are not showing as available for me. I am using 4.7. What are you using?
ok pal, it depends on you’re BluePrint Class you can try this
or you could try adding a Projectile Movement component to yore BP, there is many different ways to make something move. let me know if this works
Thanks , but it looks like your picture is missing stuff.
Just nailed it! Posting a pic in a few!!!
there is stuff here you don’t need ignore the sequence node and the current forward speed is a veriable i have set elsewhere to control the speed.
i just checked out you’re pic and your trying to do this in you’re level BP.
you need to implement the movement within the asteroid BP.
where is your rotation done? that should be in the asteroid BP also.
so in you’re asteroidBP, Event Tick to set actor Rotation to Add Actor Local Off. when the asteroid is spawned it should move forward towards the target at if the target moves the asteroid will follow
try to upload you’re rotation setup again so i can see
Thank you . I thought I had It solved for a while, but not quite. I am making progress though. The asteroid is no longer stuck in one place. it is still not going where I need it to go though. It simply drops straight down. Here is a picture of the last look of my blueprint. oh, and I have been trying it in both my astroid blueprint and the level blue print to see if that makes any difference.
Rotation?
Simple move to actor will only work if you have setup a navmesh.
Projectile movement will move in the direction of the asteriod’s x vector, so you need to rotate the asteroid to face the target.
Would be easier to understand what you’re trying to acomplish
What is they purpose of the asteroid?
Is there only one asteroid?
What is the target?
What should the asteroid do when it reaches the target?
I forgot to mention, I do have a navmesh set up.
It will vanish when it reaches the target. It is in the players backround. It sounds like my issue may be the x vector. I am still learning, I am going to look up more info about object vectors.
