Unable to login to old account or create new account with old username

I created an account in the early days of unreal engine 4, it uses a username+label@gmail.com format (i was receiving emails as recently as last month

from: Unreal Engine Unreal.Engine@epicgames.com
to: somethingforexample+unrealue4@gmail.com
date: Wed, Mar 18, 2015 at 2:14 PM

however I can not get the password reset, and can not login with this email. Can someone assist me?
